EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a group of ten seasoned seamen who served with the training ship HMS Implacable, formerly known as the French warship Duguay-Trouin that valiantly fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. These remarkable individuals boast an impressive combined service of 237 years within the Royal Navy and their ages add up to an astonishing total of 520 years. In this snapshot, we see these distinguished men lined up from left to right: AB Charles Morris, DSM, hailing from Haslemere and aged 44 with a commendable 30 years of service; AB Charles White from Reading, aged 56 with 18 years under his belt; AB G Whittington representing Freshwater on the Isle of Wight at age 60 after serving for a remarkable 28 years; L/S J Cussen standing proudly from Southsea at age 43 with an admirable record spanning over two decades; and AB A Wilson stationed in Portsmouth at age 45 following his dedicated commitment for an impressive period of time. The back row showcases AB Hs West originating from Benson, Oxfordshire and aged gracefully at 46 after serving loyally for nineteen years. Next to him stands AB W E Purchase coming all the way from Ashford in Middlesex and aged wisely at fifty-two while boasting twenty-eight fruitful years in service. CPO P J Voyzey represents Portsmouth proudly as he stands tall at fifty-six having devoted thirty-eight incredible years to his naval career. Chief Shipwright Alfred Windsor brings wisdom and experience to this group as he graces us with his presence at seventy-one despite only serving for ten short but impactful years. Finally, we have AB W Beale joining us all the way from Reading who is forty-seven after dedicating thirteen valuable years towards protecting our seas. This photograph was taken on October ninth in the year1944 by Official (not affiliated with the company) and is now available through Memory Lane Prints.
