This evocative image captures a significant moment in religious history as King Louis IX of France, also known as Saint Louis, brings the Thorn Crown of Christ back to Paris from the Holy Land in 1239. The crown, believed to have been worn by Jesus during the crucifixion, was a highly revered relic that had been in the possession of the Crusaders since the Third Crusade.
