Hawker P.1101 Hunter T Mk.7 prototype XJ615. First flown on 8 July 1955, the initial shape of the canopy caused severe airflow problems. This photograph shows XJ-615 after having the definitive canopy shape and fairing fitted. XJ615 was delivered to the Royal Air Force, after flight tests were completed, on 1 May 1959, but was written off on 24 June 1964. Date: 1956

This photograph captures the Hawker P.1101 Hunter T Mk.7 prototype, registration XJ615, after undergoing significant modifications to address severe airflow problems caused by the initial canopy shape. The image was taken in 1956, following the first flight of the Hunter T Mk.7 on 8 July 1955. The prototype, manufactured by Hawker, was fitted with a definitive canopy and fairing to rectify the aerodynamic issues. After successful flight tests were completed, XJ615 was delivered to the Royal Air Force on 1 May 1959. However, the aircraft was unfortunately written off on 24 June 1964. This image provides a glimpse into the evolution of the Hunter series, showcasing the importance of continuous design improvements in aeronautical engineering. The Hunter was a renowned British single-engine jet fighter and trainer aircraft, widely used by various air forces around the world.
