This evocative photograph captures the facade of the King and Queen pub, located in the vibrant and historic district of Newington in London. The pub, with its ornate brickwork and distinctive signage, exudes a sense of tradition and community. The King and Queen was a cherished local institution, serving as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike. The pub, which was owned by Hoare & Company Limited, was located at 127 Newington Causeway, in the SE1 6SF postal area. Unfortunately, as of July 2018, the King and Queen had been demolished, marking the end of an era for the neighborhood. The back of the print reveals the pub's address and the name of its former owner, but regrettably, no longer a place for patrons to raise a glass and share stories. The King and Queen, also known as a 'boozer,' 'bar,' or 'public house,' was a beloved establishment in the community, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
