This striking oil painting depicts Henry Joy McCracken, an influential Irish revolutionary figure from the late 18th century. Born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, in 1767, McCracken was a prominent member of the United Irishmen, a radical society that sought to overthrow British rule in Ireland through a rebellion.
