In this striking photograph, two of Japan's most prominent political figures of the early 20th century are depicted in formal attire, showcasing their high ranks and prestigious honors. Marquis Ito Hirobumi, a former Prime Minister of Japan, stands on the left side of the image. Born in 1840, Ito played a pivotal role in modernizing Japan and establishing its constitutional monarchy. He served as Prime Minister from 1885 to 1888 and later became the Governor-General of Korea from 1895 until his assassination in 1909. Born in 1848, Katsura served as Prime Minister from 1898 to 1901. He was also a decorated military officer and held the rank of Marshal General in the Imperial Japanese Army.
