Bogerman dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the dissemination of the Word of God. Born in the Netherlands, Bogerman studied theology at the University of Leiden and became a member of the Dutch Reformed Church. His deep commitment to the Bible and his fluency in multiple languages, including Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, made him an ideal candidate for the daunting task of translating the Holy Scriptures. The year 1637 marked the completion of Bogerman's magnum opus: a Dutch translation of the Bible that would become the standard version for the Dutch Reformed Church. This translation, known as the "Statenvertaling" or "Translation of the States," was widely used until the late 19th century.
