First Steps for the Future Pilot

An ingenious device for teaching beginners the rudiments of controlling an aeroplane in 1931. The little machine which flies in a strong draught of air ejected from the cylinder on the left, is connected by a rod to the table and by a universal joint to the rod. Every movement of the hands on the joystick and the feet on the rudder bar is registered on the machine exactly as it would be during an actual flight. The pupil here is Dorothy Jordan, the well-known Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film actress
