This evocative image captures the grim reality of life in a 19th century London slum, specifically in Field Lane, Holborn, circa 1840. The narrow, muddy street is lined with dilapidated buildings, their facades bearing the scars of time and neglect. The scene is a stark contrast to the bustling city that surrounds it, a reminder of the stark social divide that existed during this period. Amidst the squalor, two business premises stand out - those of Scrooge and Fagan.
