The Boxer Rebellion was an anti-foreigner uprising that began in China in 1898, fueled by anti-imperialist sentiments and the spread of the 'Boxer' movement, a secret society that believed they could expel all foreigners from China through supernatural means. The image shows a group of American soldiers, proudly hoisting the Stars and Stripes above the ancient walls of the Forbidden City, symbolizing the victory of the Allied Powers over the rebellion.
