BULL RING CENTRE, BULL RING, BIRMINGHAM, WEST MIDLANDS. A group of Dutch women in traditional dress posed outside the Bull Ring Centre, on the opening day of the Holland is Here exhibition.
The Holland is Here exhibition at the Bull Ring Centre was held during the last week of February and first week of March in 1965. It was opened by J. Bakker, Netherlands Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, and was organised in partnership with the Netherlands National Tourist Office. The exhibition included demonstrations of clog making, pottery making and painting, displays of Dutch glass, windmills (one can be seen in this image at the east court), and fresh flowers. There was also a demonstration kitchen where visitors could sample traditional Dutch food. An article on the exhibition was published in the April 1965 edition of Laings Team Spirit newsletter

Bakker, Netherlands Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, this exhibition aimed to showcase various aspects of Dutch life and heritage. From clog making to pottery demonstrations, visitors were immersed in the rich traditions and craftsmanship that define Dutch culture. In this image, one can spot a windmill standing proudly at the east court - an iconic symbol synonymous with Holland's landscape. Fresh flowers add vibrant pops of color against their monochrome surroundings while tantalizing aromas waft from the demonstration kitchen where traditional Dutch delicacies are being prepared.
