EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a Rapier dating back to the early 17th century. Crafted by the renowned German swordsmith Clemens Horn, this steel weapon is truly a work of art. The blade, weighing 1.34 kg and measuring 89.20 cm in length, is exquisitely wrought and bears the mark of its skilled creator - a unicorn head. What sets this Rapier apart is not only its fine craftsmanship but also its striking hilt, pommel, quillons, and guard configuration. Every detail has been meticulously designed to create an exceptionally handsome weapon that demands attention. Adding to its allure is the Latin inscription on the blade which translates to: "Neither without cause nor fearfully; Between arms and silent law; Prize truth and fight for one's country". These powerful words further emphasize the significance of this rapier as both a symbol of strength and an instrument for defending justice. Currently housed at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio, USA, this remarkable piece was generously gifted by Mr. and Mrs. John L. Severance. As we gaze upon this photograph print capturing every intricate detail of this historic rapier, we are transported back in time to an era when such weapons were not just tools but symbols embodying honor, courage, and patriotism.
