Painted in 1834, this artwork measures 73x57 cm and is housed at the Château de Versailles in France. Concino Concini was not your ordinary nobleman. Hailing from Florence, he rose to prominence as a favorite of Marie de Medici, Queen Consort to King Henry IV of France. This portrait captures him in all his regal splendor, donning an impressive suit of armor with an elaborate ruff collar. However, behind his opulent appearance lay a controversial figure. Known for his political influence over Marie de Medici's court, Concini ultimately met a tragic fate. Under orders from Louis XIII—Marie's son—he was assassinated in 1617. Denis Lecocq skillfully recreates an iconic image originally found at the Château de Beauregard through this remarkable copy.
