EDITORS COMMENTS
In this electrifying image captured at Emirates Stadium on the 13th of April, 2013, Thomas Vermaelen of Arsenal Football Club triumphantly lifts the ball aloft after scoring the third goal against Norwich City in the Barclays Premier League match. The Belgian defender's header, expertly executed from a corner kick, secured a crucial three points for the Gunners in their pursuit of a Champions League spot. The atmosphere inside the stadium was electric as the home team took a commanding 3-0 lead over Norwich City. Vermaelen's goal, sandwiched between strikes from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud, left the Norwich defense reeling and the Arsenal faithful in raptures. Vermaelen's goal was a testament to the team's resilience and determination, as they had faced a tough challenge from the Canaries in the first half. However, the second half saw Arsenal dominating possession and creating numerous chances, with Vermaelen's goal being the cherry on top. The defender's goal was his fifth of the season, an impressive tally for a player in his position. His versatility and leadership qualities had made him an indispensable figure in the Arsenal backline, and his goal against Norwich was a reminder of his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch. As the final whistle blew, Arsenal fans erupted in jubilation, knowing that their team had taken a significant step towards securing a place in Europe's elite club competition. Vermaelen's goal was a moment that encapsulated the spirit of the Arsenal team that season - a team that never gave up, and always believed in their ability to come out on top.
