The image is taken from "Beautiful Birds in Far-Off Lands," a natural history book written by Victorian sisters Mary Kirby (1817-1893) and Elizabeth Kirby (1823-1873). This stunning print, produced by an unknown artist and engraver for T. Nelson, London, in 1872, transports us to the lush, tropical landscapes of New Guinea and the Bismarck Archipelago.
