Born on May 24, 1819, in Kensington Palace, London, Victoria was the eldest daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg and Saxe-Meiningen. At the tender age of 18, Victoria ascended to the throne following the death of her uncle, King William IV. The young monarch's reign would span over six decades, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history. In 1876, Victoria was proclaimed Empress of India, further extending her influence and power.
