Sir Norman Bishop Hartnell (1901-1979) British couturier and favourite fashion design of the Queen and Queen Mother, seen greeting another royal patron, Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester (1901-2004), whose wedding dress he designed, at a reception of fashion buyers from overseas held at the Mansion House in the City of London in 1955. The reception was given by Lady Pamela Berry (formerly Lady Pamela Smith) and was attended by Londons leading designers, overseas buyers, Press representatives and the President of the Board of Trade, Mr Peter Thorneycroft and his wife.
