The statue, sculpted by Franz Anton Zauner (1746-1822), stands proudly in Vienna's historic Josefsplatz, a fitting tribute to the influential ruler. Born in 1741, Joseph II ascended to the throne in 1765 following the death of his father, Emperor Charles VI. During his reign, he implemented numerous reforms aimed at modernizing the Austrian Empire, particularly in the areas of education, law, and administration.
