EDITORS COMMENTS
In this poignant moment at Emirates Stadium, the Arsenal team pauses to pay their respects to two of the club's legendary former players, Arthur Milton and Alan Ball, during the Arsenal vs. Fulham match in the Barclays Premiership season of 2006-07. Arthur Milton, affectionately known as "The Gentle Giant" was a center forward who made his Arsenal debut in 1952. Milton scored an impressive 177 goals in 356 appearances for the Gunners, making him the fifth-highest goalscorer in the club's history at the time. He played a crucial role in Arsenal's success in the 1950s, helping the team win the First Division title in 1953 and the FA Cup in 1950 and 1952. Alan Ball, on the other hand, was a versatile midfielder who joined Arsenal in 1961. Ball made 248 appearances for the club, scoring 48 goals. He was a key player in Arsenal's FA Cup victory in 1970 and was also part of the team that reached the FA Cup final in 1971. Ball's tenacity and skill on the pitch earned him the nickname "Ballsy". Both Milton and Ball left indelible marks on Arsenal Football Club, and their contributions were recognized by the current team during this emotional tribute. The players gathered around the center circle, observing a moment of silence in their honor, paying tribute to the past and acknowledging the legacy of these two Arsenal greats. This photograph captures the spirit of respect and reverence that exists between the current Arsenal team and their storied history. It serves as a reminder of the rich tradition and heritage that Arsenal Football Club represents and the debt of gratitude owed to the players who came before.
