America in London.
New skyscraper Embassy in Grosvenor Square.
In one of Londons most magnificent squares, not far from Buckingham Palace, a modern building has replaced a block of old-fashioned houses and is the new home of the United States Embassy. In the seven storey skyscraper building in Grosvenor Square the Embassy, Consulate and offices of the military, naval, commercial and agricultural attaches are grouped instead of being spread throughout London as before. Letter chutes in the walls of all the rooms are used to convey males without delay to the dispatch agency.
The Ambassadors room is furnished in the American style of 1820 with the wars, panelled in silk.
The new structure is the finest Embassy building in London.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the essence of "America in London". Standing tall in Grosvenor Square, a new skyscraper Embassy has replaced the old-fashioned houses that once adorned this magnificent square. Located not far from Buckingham Palace, this modern building now serves as the United States Embassy, bringing together various departments under one roof. The seven-storey structure houses not only the Embassy and Consulate but also offices for military, naval, commercial, and agricultural attaches. A notable feature is the letter chutes embedded within the walls of every room, ensuring swift dispatch of mails to their respective agencies. Stepping into the Ambassadors room takes you back to 1820s America with its silk-paneled walls exuding elegance and charm. This American-style furnishing adds a touch of nostalgia amidst contemporary surroundings. Considered as London's finest embassy building, it stands as a symbol of diplomatic prowess between two nations. The monochrome image showcases one of the corridors within this architectural marvel. Its grandeur is evident through intricate details captured by Europeana photography. Preserved by TopFoto. co. uk from Planet News press photography archives dating back to mid-20th century between wars era; this historical artifact offers us a glimpse into an important chapter in transatlantic relations without mentioning any commercial use or affiliation with any specific company.
