The poster shows two passengers seated in a railway carriage, with Durham Castle and town buildings seen through the window beyond. Artwork by Frank Newbould (1887-1951), who studied at Bradford College of Art and joined the War Office in 1942. He also designed posters for the Orient Line and Belgian Railways
