In a Combined Operation on the night 27th and 28th February 1942, joint forces of the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force attacked an destroyed an important German radio location post at Bruneval on the North Coast of France, twelve miles north of Havre.
Parachute troops of an airborne division were were dropped by bombers of the RAF and were supported in the latter part of their task by infantry.
Picture shows: The attackers and German prisoners taken during the raid were brought back to Britain by the Royal Navy. Two of the landing craft during the return journey after the raid.
