Jewish faith lesson for Rawthorpe children. Pupils of Rawthorpe C of E Infants School

Jewish faith lesson for Rawthorpe children. Pupils of Rawthorpe C of E Infants School learn about the Jewish faith from Miss Joy Albinson, a representative of an international organisation called the Churchs Ministry among the Jews. With them is the Rev Reg Baldock, Vicar of St Jamess Church, Rawthorpe, where Miss Albinson set up a Jewish Tabernacle last Monday. The Tabernacle, which consisted of a tent with a traditional roof made of branches, was kept in the church until yesterday. During her visit, Miss Albinson gave a talk about how, during ther Festival of Tabernacles starting on October 18 for eight days, Jewish people erect a tent in their gardens to remind them of Gods faithfulness when they had to live in a tabernacle in the wilderness. Miss Albinson also gave talks at Rawthorpe High School about the Jewish Passover, and last Friday night a Passover meal in Rawthorpe Church was attended by about 30 people. In church yesterday morning, she showed slides of Israel, and in the evening she talked about the Day of Atonmement, Yom Kippur. 13th October 1986

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness a remarkable interfaith lesson taking place at Rawthorpe C of E Infants School. The young pupils are engrossed as they learn about the Jewish faith from Miss Joy Albinson, an esteemed representative of the Churchs Ministry among the Jews. Alongside them stands the Reverend Reg Baldock, Vicar of St James's Church in Rawthorpe. Last Monday, Miss Albinson set up a Jewish Tabernacle within the church premises - a tent adorned with branches that symbolizes tradition and spirituality. This unique structure remained there until yesterday, serving as a visual reminder for all who entered. During her visit to Rawthorpe, Miss Albinson delivered an enlightening talk on how Jewish people celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles by erecting tents in their gardens. These temporary dwellings serve as reminders of God's unwavering faithfulness during their ancestors' time living in tabernacles in the wilderness. Not only did she engage with students at Rawthorpe High School about Passover traditions but also organized a memorable Passover meal attended by approximately 30 individuals at Rawthorpe Church last Friday night. In addition to these enriching experiences, Miss Albinson shared captivating slides showcasing Israel during Sunday morning service and later discussed Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement - during an evening gathering. This photograph captures not only an educational moment but also highlights the power of fostering understanding and respect between different religious communities within our society.
