Grey served as Foreign Secretary from 1905 to 1916, a tenure marked by his successful diplomacy in preventing war with Germany before the outbreak of hostilities in 1914. However, once war had begun, Grey played a crucial role in rallying the British people and maintaining morale through his eloquent speeches and unwavering commitment to the Allied cause.
