This image depicts the Chinese deity Han Tchong-li, also known as Han Tianzi or Liu Bang, riding a magnificent sea creature across the waves. Han Tchong-li was the founder of the Han Dynasty in China, which lasted from 206 BCE to 220 CE, making it one of the most significant periods in Chinese history. The legend of Han Tchong-li riding a sea beast is deeply rooted in Chinese folk lore and mythology. According to the story, during his military campaign to unify China, Han Tchong-li encountered a formidable enemy, the powerful warlord Xiang Yu. In order to reach Xiang Yu's stronghold, Han Tchong-li sought the help of the sea goddess Mazu. Mazu, moved by Han Tchong-li's determination and righteousness, granted him the power to ride a sea creature, allowing him to cross the treacherous waters and reach his enemy's stronghold.
