EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning polychrome relief showcases the god Amun-Min depicted as a pharaoh, hailing from the Thutmose III temple in Deir el-Bahari during Egypt's 18th Dynasty, New Kingdom era. Amun-Min, a fusion of the gods Amun and Min, is represented with a black face, a royal crown adorned with the feathers of the sacred vulture and the white crown of Upper Egypt, and a long, flowing beard. The god is shown in profile, with his arms crossed over his chest, holding the symbols of power and fertility: the crook and the flail. The relief, sculpted in limestone, exhibits the intricate details of polychromy, with vibrant colors that have survived the test of time. The perspective of the relief gives an impression of depth and grandeur, transporting us back to the ancient age of Egyptian mythology and religion. The damaged areas, unfortunately, remind us of the passage of history, yet the overall masterpiece remains a testament to the artistic and cultural achievements of the Egyptian civilization. This relief is now displayed at the Luxor Museum in Egypt, where it continues to inspire awe and fascination among visitors from around the world.
