Leila Hyams, an American film actress of the silent and early sound eras, poses gracefully for the camera in this photograph. Born on October 2, 1905, in New York City, Hyams began her acting career in the late 1920s and quickly rose to prominence with her striking beauty and expressive acting abilities. Hyams' film debut came in 1928 with the romantic drama "The Last Mile," and she went on to appear in numerous films throughout the 1930s. Some of her most notable roles include "The Sin of Madelon Claudet," "The Mating Season," and "The Secret of Madame Blanche."
