EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a moment frozen in time at the Rossat Institute in Charleville, France, back in 1864. Among the group of young pupils posing for their class photo, we see a youthful Arthur Rimbaud standing proudly in the first row, third from the left. His brother Frederic stands beside him, fourth from the left.
Arthur Rimbaud, known for his revolutionary poetry and tumultuous life, is depicted here as a bright-eyed student with his whole future ahead of him. Little did anyone know at that moment that he would grow up to become one of the most influential poets of his time.
The image exudes an air of innocence and promise as these children pose for their school portrait. It's fascinating to think about what dreams and aspirations each of them held within their hearts on that day so long ago.
As we gaze upon this historical photograph, we are reminded of the power of education and how it shapes our destinies. Each face tells a story waiting to be written, just like Rimbaud's own journey from pupil to renowned author.
This print serves as a window into the past, allowing us to glimpse a young Rimbaud before he became a literary legend.
