Despite being outnumbered, this brave sentinel fought to his last breath, taking down five enemy soldiers before succumbing. The Battle of Castlebar, also referred to as the Castlebar Races due to its swift and unexpected outcome, took place on August 27th near Castlebar in County Mayo.
