Pullar made 312 first-class appearances for Lancashire between 1954 and 1968, scoring 16853 runs and 32 centuries. He played 28 tests for England.
Wharton played 392 first-class games for Lancashire between 1946 and 1960, scoring 17921 runs and 25 centuries. He played one test for England against New Zealand in 1949. He also played rugby league for Salford.

The image captures two legendary players from Lancashire County Cricket Club, Noddy Pullar and Alan Wharton, as they confidently stride onto the field at Old Trafford. Geoffrey "Noddy". Pullar, standing on the left side of the frame, was a true stalwart for Lancashire. Over his impressive career spanning from 1954 to 1968, he played an astounding 312 first-class matches for his beloved club.
