EDITORS COMMENTS
This print of the "Holyhead (Holy Island), LMS poster" takes us back to a bygone era, when rail travel was at its peak and the allure of coastal destinations beckoned adventurous souls. Produced between 1923 and 1945 for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), this poster aimed to entice travelers to Holyhead in Wales, a place renowned for holding the British record for sunshine. The artwork, skillfully created by Claude Buckle, showcases an expansive view of Holyhead's stunning coast. The cliffs stand tall and majestic as seagulls soar gracefully above them. In the distance, we catch a glimpse of the pier reaching out into the sparkling waters. Buckle's expertise in both oil and watercolour painting shines through in this masterpiece.
