Beagle, Part 3 Birds (1838-41), is a stunning hand-coloured lithograph by the renowned team of John and Elizabeth Gould. This exquisite illustration showcases the distinctive features of this flightless bird, native to South America. John Gould's expert anatomy depiction highlights the bald, curved head and neck of the Lesser Rhea, with its mottled, long body and long, powerful legs.
