This image depicts the noble Roman statesman, Lucius Cornelius Lentulus (c. 85-48 BC), a pivotal figure in the tumultuous political landscape of ancient Rome during the late Republic. Lentulus, a member of the distinguished Cornelius Lentulus family, rose to prominence as a consul in 49 BC, an esteemed position in the Roman government. During his tenure as consul, Lentulus found himself at odds with the charismatic and ambitious Julius Caesar.
