Judas Maccabeus: The Triumphant Leader of the Maccabean Revolt (160 BC, Palestine) This evocative image captures the triumphant spirit of Judas Maccabeus, the charismatic leader of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire, which dominated Israel from 175 to 160 BC. The Maccabean Revolt, also known as the Maccabean War or the Hasmonean Revolution, was a significant turning point in Jewish history, marking the end of Seleucid rule and the beginning of the Hasmonean dynasty.
