Brissonet was a man of great learning and piety, who rose through the ranks of the Church to become one of the most influential prelates of his time. In this print, Brissonet is depicted in his cardinal's robes, the red velvet cape and the yellow tunic adorned with gold galons, signifying his high ecclesiastical rank.
