In this striking photograph, Lieutenant Colonel Cuthbert Euan Charles Rabagliati MC, AFC, a renowned British soldier, pilot, race car driver, and intelligence officer, exchanges vows with the widowed Beatrix Purdey Oliver, formerly known as the Duchess of Gandolfi, on 7 March 1940, at Caxton Hall Register Office. Euan Rabagliati, born in 1892, was a decorated military hero who had served in both World War I and World War II. His military accomplishments included being awarded the Military Cross and Air Force Cross. In addition to his military career, Rabagliati was an accomplished pilot and race car driver, with a notable presence at the famed Brooklands circuit. Beatrix Oliver, the bride, was the widow of Vincent Gandolfi-Hornyold, the 3rd Duke of Gandolfi.
