Sports at Eton College in 1916. In the bottom left and bottom middle pictures is Prince Henry (later Duke of Gloucester), climbing out of the water jump in the steeplechase and with an attested constable who is helping him with a sweater after the race. In other pictures: 1. J. L. Baker winning the junior high jump, 2. D.W. Gurney, winner of the Senior Steeplechase, 3. Hon. E. V. Rice, winner of the Junior Steeplechase, 4. I. J. Pitman winning the Junior Long Jump and 7. D. W. Gurney at the water jump in the senior race. Prince Henry came a very respectable twelth out of a field of 100 competitors. Date: 1916

In the bottom left and middle photographs, we find a young Prince Henry, later known as the Duke of Gloucester, making a splash in the steeplechase competition. The future royalty is seen climbing out of the water jump, with the assistance of an attested constable, who helps him don a sweater to keep the chill at bay.
