North New Zealand

Cape Reinga, official name Cape Reinga/Te Rerenga Wairua, is the north westernmost tip of the Aupouri Peninsula, at the northern end of the North Island of New Zealand.
Cape Reinga is more than 100 km north of the nearest small town of Kaitaia. State Highway 1 extends all the way to the Cape, but until 2010 was unsealed gravel road for the last 19 km.
Suitable vehicles can also travel much of the way via Ninety Mile Beach and Te Paki stream bed.
The Te Rerenga Wairua component of the name in Muori language means the leaping-off place of spirits. The Reinga part of the name is the Muori language word meaning the underworld.
Both refer to the Muori belief that the cape is the point where the spirits of the dead enter the underworld.
Cape Reinga is on the tentative list of UNESCO waiting to receive World Heritage Site status.
The cape is already a favorite tourist attraction, with over 120, 000 visitors a year and around 1, 300 cars arriving per day during peak season. Visitor numbers are growing by about five percent a year, and the increase is likely to become even more now that the road to the cape is fully sealed

Unleash your creativity and transform your space into a visual masterpiece!

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the breathtaking beauty of Cape Reinga, the northwesternmost tip of New Zealand's North Island. Located on the Aupouri Peninsula, this remote destination is a true natural wonder. With its official name being Cape Reinga/Te Rerenga Wairua, it holds deep cultural significance for the Muori people. Situated over 100 km away from Kaitaia, reaching Cape Reinga was once an adventurous journey along an unsealed gravel road. However, since 2010, State Highway 1 has extended all the way to this remarkable cape. For those seeking a more thrilling experience, Ninety Mile Beach and Te Paki stream bed offer alternative routes accessible by suitable vehicles. The Muori language gives meaning to every aspect of this place's name: "Te Rerenga Wairua" symbolizes the leaping-off point for spirits while "Reinga" represents the underworld where departed souls enter according to Muori beliefs. Cape Reinga's outstanding cultural and natural value has earned it a spot on UNESCO's tentative list for World Heritage Site status. Already attracting over 120,000 visitors annually and witnessing around 1,300 cars per day during peak season, its popularity continues to grow at approximately five percent each year. Through Stig Stockholm Pedersen's lens in this stunning print available at Fine Art Storehouse, one can immerse themselves in the enchantment and tranquility that emanates from Cape Reinga – a place where land meets sea and spiritual legends come alive.
