8666284 Lotterie / Lottery (colour litho) by German School, (20th century); Private Collection; (add.info.: Lotterie. Translation: Lottery. The lottery takes its name from the French word lot (lot). For many, it was then and still is the only opportunity to perhaps experience a miracle (the big lot). All existing ticket numbers and winning numbers are poured into a slowly rotating, glass drum, from which orphans usually pick the individual rolls of paper.
