USS Monitor and CSS Virginia ironclad naval battle

Terrific Engagement Between the USS Monitor with 2 Guns, and the CSS Virginia (aka Merrimac) with 10 Guns, in Hampton Roads, March 9th 1862. The First Fight between Ironclad ships of War. In which the Virginia was crippled, and the whole Rebel Fleet driven back to Norfolk.

On it's final mission, the Space Shuttle Discovery passes the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol atop a NASA modified 747 plane in Washington April 17, 2012. The Space Shuttle Discovery made it's way to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Virginia annex where it will become an attraction to visitors there.

The Death of General Stonewall Jackson

General Thomas Jonathan Jackson, born in Clarksburg, Harrison County, Va. Jany. 21st 1824. Wounded in both arms at Chancellorsville, Virginia by the fire of a South Carolina Regiment who mistook his escort for Federal Cavalry; his left arm was amputated the same evening and he died at Guinea's station, on the Richmond and Fredericksburg Railroad, May 10th 1863. Date: May 10th 1863
