EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a moment in time during the civil engineering work on the Northcoates oil pipeline in Lincolnshire, England. The image showcases a dedicated worker diligently repairing the epoxy resin lining on the welds inside the pipe. The project, led by Laing Pipelines in collaboration with French companies Entrepose and GTM, involved extensive construction efforts along over two miles of 36-inch diameter pipeline encased in concrete. This particular photograph was featured in May 1970's edition of Laing's monthly newsletter Team Spirit. The significance of this snapshot lies not only in its depiction of hardworking individuals but also as a testament to the remarkable engineering feat that took place off the coast of East Lindsey. Ultimately, this massive pipeline was pulled out to sea within Humber Estuary. As we gaze upon this image from decades past, it serves as a reminder of the ingenuity and dedication required for such ambitious projects. It is through photographs like these that we can appreciate both the human element behind large-scale infrastructure developments and their lasting impact on our environment.
