Jenny Lind, soprano known as the Swedish Nightingale, 1848. Lind (1820-1887) in the title role of Donizettis opera Lucia di Lammermoor performed at Her Majestys Theatre London in 1848. The premiere was at Naples in 1835, and the first London performance was in 1838. The opera is based on the novel The Bride of Lammermoor by Walter Scott.
