EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph taken by Rogan Thomson during the 2017 pre-season, Josh Brownhill of Bristol City makes his entrance at The Creek, home of local non-league side Bristol Manor Farm. The Sky Bet Championship club's young midfielder, who had joined from Barnsley earlier that summer, was making his first appearance for his new team in a community game against their local rivals. Brownhill, wearing the number 21 jersey, confidently strides onto the pitch, his determined expression and focused gaze reflecting his eagerness to make a strong impression. The vibrant colors of the Bristol City kit contrast sharply with the lush green grass and the backdrop of the picturesque venue, adding to the sense of anticipation and excitement in the air. The pre-season friendly, which took place on July 9,2017, provided an opportunity for fans to catch a glimpse of the club's latest signing in action, as well as for Brownhill to familiarize himself with his new teammates and the team's playing style. The game also served as a reminder of the important role that community football plays in the development of young players and the fostering of local talent. Brownhill went on to have a successful season with Bristol City, making 43 appearances and scoring 5 goals in all competitions. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the England Under-21 squad and cemented his place as a key player for the Championship side. This photograph captures a pivotal moment in Brownhill's career, as he embarks on a new chapter in his football journey with his hometown club.
