EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print by Philippe Lissac from Universal Images Group (UIG), we are transported to the heart of Paris, France, inside the magnificent Saint-Sulpice church. The focal point of the image is a breathtaking sculpture of Saint-Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, a revered figure in Christianity and the founder of the Institute of Brothers of Christian Schools. The statue exudes an aura of spirituality and faith as it stands tall amidst the grandeur of its surroundings. Bathed in soft light filtering through stained glass windows, it emanates a sense of tranquility and reverence that can only be found within sacred spaces. This powerful representation symbolizes not only Catholicism but also serves as a reminder of Europe's rich religious heritage. It invites us to reflect on our own beliefs and connect with our spiritual selves. The presence of a child standing beside the statue adds another layer to this profound scene. Perhaps they are captivated by its beauty or seeking solace in their innocent curiosity. Regardless, their inclusion reminds us that religion transcends age barriers and has an impact on people from all walks of life. Philippe Lissac's masterful composition captures both the physicality and emotional essence behind religious art, making this print an exquisite testament to Roman Catholicism's enduring influence throughout history.
