THEOSOPHY - THOUGHT-FORMS - ASTRAL PLANE
Occult vision of the music of Gounod, being played on a church organ. Paintings of thought-forms were originated by a group of Theosophists, towards the end of the nineteenth century. The paintings were done, following the occult observations of such thoughts or visions on the astral plane, by Charles Leadbeater (Besant claimed such an astral vision, but it is unlikely that this was genuine), by John Varley (a descendant of the John Varley who taught William Blake astrology), Mr. Prince and Miss Macfarlane, all three of whom painted in earths dull colours the forms clothed in the living light of other worlds. The paintings were reproduced, and discussed, in Annie Besant and C.W. Leadbeater, Thought-Forms, 1901 edn, from which these plates are photographed

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "THEOSOPHY - THOUGHT-FORMS - ASTRAL PLANE" offers a glimpse into the mystical world of occult vision. The image depicts an ethereal scene where the music of Gounod is being played on a grand church organ. Originating from the late nineteenth century, these thought-form paintings were created by a group of Theosophists who sought to capture their occult observations on the astral plane. The artists behind these extraordinary paintings include Charles Leadbeater, John Varley (a descendant of William Blake's astrology teacher), Mr. Prince, and Miss Macfarlane. Using earthy tones contrasted with vibrant hues borrowed from otherworldly realms, they skillfully portrayed forms clothed in living light. Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater compiled and discussed these remarkable paintings in their book "Thought-Forms" first published in 1901. This print faithfully reproduces some of those plates for our contemplation and appreciation. Stepping beyond conventional boundaries, this esoteric artwork invites us to explore paranormal dimensions that lie beyond our ordinary perception. It serves as a testament to human curiosity about unseen realms and the power of artistic expression to bridge gaps between worlds. Captured by Charles Walker in 2003, this photograph preserves not only the intricate details but also the enigmatic atmosphere surrounding these thought-forms.
