The longest formation flight ever undertaken by service unit, five RAF flying boats of number 204 (Gen reconnaissance) Squadron being prepared at Plymouth. They will take off next week and by the time I return in the Spring, they would have flown 25, 000 miles to Australia and back.
The visit is being made in connection with the150th anniversary celebration of Sydney.

The image captures the preparation of five RAF flying boats from number 204 Squadron at Plymouth, as they gear up for an extraordinary journey. This formation flight is set to become the longest ever undertaken by a service unit. The squadron's destination? Australia! These brave pilots will embark on a remarkable 25,000-mile round trip that will take them all the way down under and back again. As I gaze upon this photograph, I can't help but feel awe-struck by their audacity and determination. What makes this expedition even more special is its connection to Sydney's 150th anniversary celebration.
