Dorothy entered service with the GWR in 1935 as a clerk, working out of the Accounts Office. She then moved to the Drawing Office at the start of the Second World War

Pictured here in June of that year, Dorothy served as the secretary to the Chief Carriage and Wagon Works Draughtsman.
