Stegosaurus dinosaur

Stegosaurus dinosaur, artwork. Stegosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur and is the best-known member of the group Stegosauridae. It was about 9 metres long and 2.75 metres tall, and weighed about 3 tonnes. A row of bony plates ran down its back. These may have been used as cooling fins, or in mating displays. The spikes on the end of the tail were probably used to defend against predators. The rear legs were longer than the front legs. Stegosaurus lived during the late Jurassic period, between 156 and 140 million years ago. Its remains have been found in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the majestic Stegosaurus dinosaur, a true icon of the prehistoric world. Known for its distinctive bony plates running along its back, this herbivorous giant was a member of the Stegosauridae group and remains one of the most well-known dinosaurs to date. Measuring approximately 9 meters in length and standing at an impressive height of 2.75 meters, this magnificent creature weighed around 3 tonnes. Its unique row of plates has puzzled scientists for years, with theories suggesting they may have served as cooling fins or played a role in elaborate mating displays. The spikes adorning the end of its tail were likely used as formidable weapons against predators, adding an extra layer of defense to this already remarkable creature. With longer rear legs compared to its front limbs, Stegosaurus possessed both agility and strength. Having roamed our planet during the late Jurassic period between 156 and 140 million years ago, fossils belonging to this incredible species have been discovered across continents including North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. This stunning artwork captures every intricate detail with precision and offers us a glimpse into Earth's ancient past. A testament to paleontology's ongoing fascination with these magnificent creatures that once ruled our world.
