The retail giant said that legendary North beers such as Newcastle Brown Ale and Theakstons were likely to end up accompaniying the turkey this year.
The supermarket chain said in the last week it has sold more to join table than 1.5m bottles of ale - the highest amount it has ever sold in a single week and three times as high as the same week before Christmas in 2011.
