Fred Serenades The Worms: Angler Fred Weldings neighbours don
Fred Serenades The Worms: Angler Fred Weldings neighbours don t go much on the strange vibrant sound Fred makes as lovingly he strokes his metal bow across a hickory stick violin but the worms love it. They come wriggling out of their holes for more, whereupon Fred grabs them and promptly goes fishing. Fred, 58, reckons his worms music is an old American trick for catching bait known as grunting. At his home Runcorn, Cheshire, he said: " Once I get the right note the worms shoot up in their hundreds." Freds Call.... and he listens for the worms. 19th December 1978

Fred Serenades The Worms: Angler Fred Welding's unique musical talent captivates not only the worms but also the curiosity of his neighbors. With a strange and vibrant sound, Fred lovingly strokes his metal bow across a hickory stick violin, creating an enchanting melody that resonates deep within the earth. As if under a spell, the worms emerge from their cozy burrows to join in this harmonious performance. While Fred's neighbors may not appreciate his unconventional serenade, he knows that it is an age-old American trick for catching bait known as grunting. At 58 years old, this seasoned angler has perfected the art of worm-charming through music. His home in Runcorn, Cheshire becomes a stage where nature's symphony unfolds. With each note played on his makeshift instrument, hundreds of worms respond eagerly to Fred's call. They wriggle out in unison, drawn by the irresistible allure of his melodious tunes. Swiftly seizing these eager participants for fishing expeditions, Fred demonstrates both skill and patience as he reels in his catch. In this photograph captured on December 19th, 1978 - a snapshot from the nostalgic era of the 1970s - we witness Fred kneeling with intense focus and determination etched upon his face. Holding onto both musical instrument and fishing rod simultaneously showcases his passion for angling.
